Stephanie Brown, 16 years old, junior vigilante. Goes by The Spoiler. Born ready to take a bite out of crime.

Steph was eight when she realized her dad was a bad man; eleven when she realized that she couldn't trust him; fourteen when he got out of prison, and she realized that she was the only person who could do something about him. Arkham Asylum had cured Arthur Brown of his tendency to leave clues, but not to commit crimes, so Steph left them for him. After their confrontation, he went back to Blackgate Penitentiary, more or less.

But the crimefighting bug had bit Steph hard. It was a way to use her skills to make a difference in the world around her. She wasn't Justice League material yet, but what she did still mattered, and if she worked hard she'd get there someday. Batman and Robin tried to dissuade her, but she remained determined. Robin eventually helped her out by giving her supplies and some training. Soon enough, they began dating.

It was a good relationship for both of them. When Steph found out an old ex had gotten her pregnant, he helped her figure out what she wanted to do and then do it. Steph's never seen her baby; Tim has. She doesn't think of herself as a mother, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care. She gave up the baby because she wanted to give them their best chance, and she knew that that wasn't with her. Most of the time, she doesn't think about it. She has a life to make worth living.

With her trademark perseverance, Steph got back in the game. She trained with Cassandra Cain, and she's picked up bits and pieces from teamups with other superheroes that she's met. She's an autodidact more through necessity than choice; she's just never had the resources to pull a training regime together that wasn't her gymnastics team or whatever she could pick up through the Internet. She isn't sure that being a sidekick is really for her, but she'd be willing to try.

Steph is resourceful, creative, unstoppable, intuitive and observant. She's been able to sneak up on Batman before. She can take a punch and keep going; she can take a punch, and then avoid it the next time. You generally only have to tell her a thing once. She will scavenge, sew, and slapdash together things that work through ingenuity, guts and prayer. She is fierce and kind, hopeful and angry, made out of sheer willpower and self-reliance. Don't let her bubbly attitude fool you - she's optimistic and bright because she has to be, not because that's all she's ever experienced.
